They dyed my blood and stuffed me back in the magnetic tumble dryer to get some better contrasting pics.

you will probably end up with substantially less titanium.
I have a massively prolapsed disc which would have been 'catastrophic' had my spinal canal not been 'abnormally large'.
I had Meningitis when I was a kid and this is likely to be a result of the lumbar punctures I had to cure me... looking at the MRI you can see that my nerves are all 'clumped together' in a bit of a mess really (which is indicative of Meningitis).
I have 2 options:
1 leave it as it is. Eventually the disc will shrivel / shrink in size and will stop pressing on the nerve that makes my leg so very painful. It could take anywhere between 1 and 5 years for this to happen
2 have an operation to have the disc removed. 3 days in hospital and 2-4 weeks recuperation time. There are, of course, problems that can occur in surgery... they could fuck up some nerves whilst removing the disc which would make my left leg numb and cause me to have 'bowel problems'. I could get an infection and end up with Meningitis again.

most people would choose the surgery, yes.
the surgery is relatively routine (except that it's on YOU!); the recovery will be all about how well you're able to adjust to the restrictions post-op.

Living with scoliosis, I would almost just endure the pain in hopes a more successful operation would come, or it would shrink before that. Good luck and best wishes if you go under the knife.
