i think it can work in pretty much any line of business. funeral directors... hmmn, pretty much, anyway.

It really depends on company culture
  • edited 8:53PM
Businesses trying to look straight and professional only really appeal to other businesses. Depends on what it is you are involved in.

indeed. And particularly the creative industry, and the example shown :)

Maybe not funeral directors though

must be the different corporate culture or way of doing business...

I worked for a small publishing house in Vienna last summer (ok, it was more of an internship than a job – especially the salary  ) and although we had a "flat" hierarchy and everybody, boss included was very relaxed to the outside and in business relations everything had to be very stiff... no jokes on business cards, very formal style in correspondance and on the phone and the like – so, yeah, very different corporate culture.

I study English as my main subject and Art history as my elective... worlds apart – so again huge difference in the academic culture :-)

    "Thank You for Smoking"

    :D

The Germanic culture is very serious as well. Maybe serious is the wrong word, instead...formal, to the extreme!! In Austria or Germany it's just not done, period!

rear of a business card, this guy is quite german (though, we did a serious card for him too - depending on who he was handing it to...)
  • edited 8:53PM
There's always the exception to the rule.

To be truly German though, you need to take several large words, remove the spaces between them and make ONEÜBERWORD that is more precise and all encompassing of his duties for his "Title"!

looks a bit odd having hyphenated words on a business card though eh?

    :happy::tongue:
  • edited 8:53PM
aren't hyphenated words it almost mandatory in German?

a lot ... what GearedUp said... *nod*

    You sound like me
  • edited 8:53PM
i think, if earlier typographers had thought it through clearly, they'd have co-opted something attractive, like a low-rider tilde to use for hyphenating.

it's not the hyphenated word is in any text which is meant to be read through.

Well may be. But if you're feeling experimental you can bang out a dozen good ideas in an hour or two.

    dieline new logo
    i see that the dieline
has had a bit of a makeover...

the redesigned logo references the flat design of packaging 'net' and is probably a little less obvious than the original box design. i prefer the old one, personally. you should view the site to see it in it's full glory ;)

    [hide]
i'll get round to jazzing this one up a bit at some point, too :)[/hide]
  • edited 8:53PM
think I still prefer the box without the perspective, made it less obvious, could be just me.

Why am I thinking "MacDonalds" and cheap french fries? the yellow and the red color is too much mustard and ketchup bottle --

guess you're supposed to consume rather than watch the game :-(

    pimp my logo
    BASIC IDEA
You send me your logo in vector format, I'll make a cheesy 3second animation of it for free.

    GOAL
To produce an even cheesier "reel" full of cheesy logo animations.

    WHY ?
The same reason as your existence.

...maybe we should send a fazyluckers logo in (maybe we should have a fazyluckers logo, ffs...)
  • edited 8:53PM
i gave you an animated FL logo. it suffered the same fate as all the logos i gave you. i wonder why..... :D

the site is "closed to submissions". funny idea, though.
