This thing is taking up far too much of my time... flexible satellite dishes... eugh.
  • edited 5:36PM
How does that work actually? Is it foldable for transport? Then snaps into position when installed? It can't be flexible when in use, surely?
  • edited 5:36PM

this is on press today... I hate it :awkward:

It's a 6m diameter dish for use in space... it folds so they can get it in the space shuttle, then unfolds using it's own stored elastic strain energy once in space and (and this is the big bit) remains rigid enough so that it works.

a0 poster with too much text...
there are a couple of images to go in somewhere

    ^ target market is?
  • edited 5:36PM
11 to 14 year old girls from a male single parent family living in aberdeen.

(psychology conference type thing. it's more of an exhibition panel than an advertising poster, of course)

everyone with enough time to read it.
  • edited 5:36PM
    Nobody will ever read that
  • edited 5:36PM
i know this, you know this, but apparently people with doctorates in human behaviour think they will. chortle!
  • edited 5:36PM
    I'd do an alternative aswell

ok, so you are saying that you don't like it? :D hehe
  • edited 5:36PM
chris, it looks great as a page... doesn't work as poster imo
  • edited 5:36PM
ah well, i did mention that it was to be more of an exhibition panel type thing, rather than a poster...

really, they should have a proper poster, and a two page brochure with all of this info in for the people that would bother reading it.
  • edited March 2008
but i've mentioned it once, now i just pound away at the keyboard making them what they want.
  • edited 5:36PM
poster / information panel = the same
  • edited 5:36PM
IF it were me I'd present them with exactly not what they'd asked for
  • edited 5:36PM
lol, what are you? paid to think, or something?!
  • edited 5:36PM
    Um... yes

Sorry matey, I'm not trying to pull your work to bits or be deliberately aggressive... I just think that there's ALWAYS another way when faced with this type of brief. If your client just won't listen to reason then I guess you just have to prostitute yourself and go with it
  • edited 5:36PM
nah, i didn't think you were being anything of the sort, don't worry ;)
  • edited 5:36PM
it's a wip, as the thread suggests, i've not even got all the content in the ID document yet :)

    A quick style amend...
  • edited 5:36PM
that's great, where are you going to put the images and data tables? :D
  • edited 5:36PM
    Page 2 :D
  • edited 5:36PM
hehe, maybe i should ask if this could be a two sided job, stick all the text on the back of it ;)
  • edited 5:36PM
at least put something funny in the footnotes down the bottom...for whoever has to sit at the table all day handing out pamphlets while all the behavioural psychologists flock to the stands with the freebies...

yeh it was lovely, wasn't it?

i'm going to do them every tuesday - we'll see how it goes once my drawing speeds up a bit from there (this really is an exercise in drawing for me)

i'm still playing with the format - some people have expressed a concern about the lack of panels so i might amend it a bit but i doubt i'll ever get into thick white borders on everything
  • edited 5:36PM
Ive just had a look at your site there ob. Very nice. Keep us posted of any updates ;)
