Oh nice, wish I could get to see that. I can remember seeing some laminated steel tools from Japan, contemporary ones, they just oozed quality and strength.
Ha. I used to use a similar (but simpler) joint to fix chair legs on old/antique chairs; I found it in an old (1940s/50s) woodworking book. The boss was sceptical about it but months later found him using it 😁
