the reason i ask is we went through a "surprise" brand redesign and i've been scrambling to come up with standards for our website. we haven't had any since i've been here and i'm trying to come up with standards. i don't want the fresh and nicely designed site to turn into circus town fleemarketville with every banner having it's own look and feel 1 month after launch.
i don't think it will be hard to sell the designers on why need standards and guidelines, the problem is going to be the requestors. old habits are hard to break but i'm sick of the nascar feel our site used to have and i'll be damned if i let it get back to that.
any help appreciated.
also, i don't think that a style guide is going to have any effect on the circus town fleemarketsville requestors (but yeah, good luck on that...)
but now my interest is piqued - who is it that you adore so much?
i'm struggling trying to sell the importance brand standards to people outside my department. everybody wants their stuff to have it's own look and feel and of course, scream LOOK AT ME on the website. the problem is, the old site could have 5 different things screaming at them on the same page. it looked like a nascar littered with sponsor logos.
i'll email them and see if i can persuade them to share with me.
