Face drawing project

edited May 2007 in creations
I had nothing to do at work today and they I got very exited about drawing stuff. I drew 3 famous faces, with different degrees of likeness.

After I got home, I still had a crazy urge to draw, so I drew 3 more!

I think that I'll try to get something like 20 or more of these done in a week or so. It's a good drawing practice and I almost never draw anything.

So, without further ado, here are the 3 that I drew at home:

    Face 4

    Face 5

    Face 6
    image

These took me like 20 minutes each. I'll post the first 3 drawings a bit later, as they are at the office now.

I thought the last one had the best likeness :awkward:

Inspired to fish out my pen and paper, but i have to physically restrain myself from tagging and drawing little stick ups of grafitti all over the pages...

hehe, that can be a pain in the ass.

That's just a scan I did at work. I'll take the patented straw backdropped photo later at home.

is face 7 an alien?

    nice work!

Human faces are hard, because slight errors in scale are visible to everyone instantly.

maybe the eyes are a bit too innocent for a mere human being :D

    that's true...
that's why not everyone can draw faces, most people do a distorted version of the faces, but your's are spot on!

    What's your technique?
do you have the picture and draw based on it (I hope you don't trace over it...)
Do you have some live drawings? (ie: someone posing for your drawing instead of a picture) I'm curious to see

I have some live drawings, but they are so old and crappy that i am not showing them, that's for sure.

All of these are drawn from photo reference. i just google for a decent picture of the person I want to draw and then draw based on that photo. No, these are not traced, they are all measured by pen and hand from the computer screen like when doing a live drawing.
I don't think that I have any special technique :D
  • edited 2:09PM
    that's special enough.
I find tracing to be a very poor technique for this kind of work.

    Great work!

Now I'm in the mood for drawing, thanks!

why do you shoot over that background?
    I think it is distracting...
But I like the shadow

    Jussi-K, as always, amazing work.
  • edited 2:09PM
I like the background :D It's my carpet.
  • *contemplates the implications of sending jussi a photo*

eh... whats the worst that could happen ;)

amazing work. seriously. i cant draw faces (other than cartoonish crap) to save my life.

    Face ?

This is not part of the "set". It is just a test to see if I coud draw a female face. She's no one famous - yet.
  • face? mine? if you say so...

seriously, don't feel the need to... im enjoying seeing the other drawings just as much.
  • edited 2:09PM
Yeah, you are pretty, I could do you.

Man what a lame joke. Don't be offended, I could not help myself.
I think that I may have a go at trying to draw you tonight, why not. If I don't post anything, the drawing went bad :D

Hugging is always good. Never embarassing.

Oh, I also meant to say "drawing this was fun, alhough it was a little hard", but I forgot.

I need to go sit at some bridge and take some pens and papers and start making money drawing people's faces!
