but, not all, and probably not many, designers actually fulfill that kind of roll. so, to say that all graphic designers should be this and that...nope. and let's be honest, not all are good enough for that kind of thoughtfulness.
how many architects draw door and window details all day? alot. the work is not much thoughtful all the time.
ethics should be ingrained in EVERY decision, though. why doesn't bezos pay his warehouse people better? graphic designers aren't going to solve that problem. not every problem - and let's say MOST problems - are not design problems.
too many times i've just seen stupidity and randomness from people trying to solve the problems. let me find this article...
i've been barking about internet ethics for a decade and i'm quite certain things are only getting worse. as amateurization takes a larger role, as schools will barely even touch the subject, it only falls further behind.
Yes - I posted as it aligns with my current hymn sheet already. I think that the ‘graphic design’ element of it can easily be discounted, and apply the basics to a far wider field of ‘working’.
there was another essay, I’ll grab a link now... (I’ve not read the one you linked to yet, but I will!)
I like that way of putting it. Whilst I *think* I’d already be including the ‘world/society’ in the equation, it had been under perception value to myself (what benefits the world and society also benefits me), but the triplicate version definitely adds more weight to that than I’d originally given it. And rightly so.
i had a much more harsh response but i deleted. wake up today to see in the papers that Amazon uses data from it's store to setup competitor products (they own) - which is something i mentioned in the deleted post. there is so much of this crap happening these days. have a good idea...start making waves...get ripped off in a huge way...

i'm supportive of what he has to say - he's preaching to the choir i'm already a member of. but, i'm just being realistic...

Thinking in Triplicate
https://medium.com/mule-design/a-three-part-plan-to-save-the-world-98653a20a12fI’d posted this (in reply) on another forum -

Yup, like it.
I don't find anything new in that article.
At least Tibor Kalman had the balls to get on stage and tell the ad designers they were shit.
