    Marten, I'd bet.

    nice little carnivores, but they'll strip your blueberry bushes (bottom half).

    yeah. didn't look particularly damaged, either. bit of a gash on the other side of it's face, and neck. but definitely not a fight-to-the-death type thing, with the cat or a fox.

    you know, could have been dropped by a bird of prey, of course...

    bury it under some new bush you've planted (side-dress) and hope some dog doesn't dig it up in a couple of weeks.

    or... skin it and eat it. I'd recommend heavy spicing.

    it is set to compost elsewhere in the garden atm. or feed another friendly carnivore...
