What components you've got - experioences, pointers, glitches? I know perian is the swiss-knife among the codecs, but what else there is to use?

To be honest, I've only got Perian installed (I don't know how the other codecs got in there).
I use VLC for playing everything except .mov files.

well there's obviously DivX as well a 3ivx which you have to pay for now but I still use the older free version which still works well!!
Intel Codec Pack
here
PPC Codec Pack
here
Also you got the Flip4Mac WMV Codecs that all you to play them in Quicktime which is available
here
and instead of using VLC, you can use
MPlayer
which will allow you to play H264 MKV files
if you need to know anymore just pm me and ill hook you up with some more linkage
